Joianne Bittle Knight has been an artist and nature-lover since childhood. She earned a BFA from Indiana University Bloomington and studied printmaking, drawing, painting and art history. She was awarded a post-graduate assistantship at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy, and moved to New York City in 1999. In addition to being an exhibiting artist, she worked for Christie’s Auction House for three years as a Registrar and Art Handler, where she utilized her knowledge of art history and contemporary art. Currently, she works as an Exhibition Assistant Preparator at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). At AMNH, she has fabricated installations for the Museum’s special exhibitions while working closely with Senior Exhibition Preparators and Designers. Her specialties include acrylic and oil painting, strong airbrush techniques, color mixing and theory, and diorama mural painting. Various other skills include drawing and sculpture techniques, computer design and grid layouts, basic mold making and soldering, general knowledge of power tools and problem solving in a workshop. |
